Sam’s Club, a membership warehouse club under Walmart, has revealed plans to open two new distribution centres (DCs) in the US in early 2024.
The new facilities will be located in the greater St Louis area in Edwardsville, Illinois, and in Shakopee, Minneapolis.
Set to open in January 2024, the St. Louis facility occupies 370,000ft² and will serve as a DC and fulfilment centre.
It will create 100 jobs across the region, with hiring for hourly associates set to begin in early December 2023.
Walmart has more than 57,000 associates in Illinois.
Located at 7400 Hentges Way, the 365,000ft² Shakopee facility will serve as a multipurpose distribution centre and will open in March 2024, employing 80 associates.

The new distribution centres will increase speed and product availability at Sam’s Club and online.
Sam’s Club supply chain senior vice-president Joseph Godsey stated: “We’re excited to extend our supply chain network and capabilities for our clubs and members in the region.
“We’re designing our supply chain network to strengthen our omnichannel experience and increase efficiencies and delivery speed to wherever our members decide to shop with us and receive their products.”
In October 2023, Walmart revealed plans to open a 900,000ft² high-tech fulfilment centre in Stockton, California.
