Multinational retail corporation Walmart has teamed up with beauty and fashion technology provider Perfect to launch a makeup virtual ‘Try-On’ experience.
The new experience, available through Walmart’s iOS app, features Perfect’s Face artificial intelligence (AI) solution, which uses AI deep learning technology to develop hyper-realistic augmented reality (AR)-powered makeup filters for customers.
Walmart’s virtual try-on experience will enable shoppers to virtually try-on makeup products such as lip colour, eye shadow, blush and bronzer in seconds.
According to Perfect, shoppers can virtually test more than 1,400 products from Walmart Beauty’s brand assortment, including Almay, Black Radiance, CoverGirl, Maybelline, Revlon and Rimmel.
The technology also removes the need for physical product samples, reducing product waste and harmful impacts on the environment.
Perfect CEO and founder Alice Chang said: “As beauty customers turn to retailers for personalised advice and product recommendations, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Walmart to build an enhanced try-on experience with cutting-edge AI and AR technology.
