An annual clothing sector report by Salience Search Marketing finds that Zara is the most prominent clothing brand in the UK in 2023.
The report analysed 11 crucial performance indicators, including year-on-year visibility, search volume trends, and brand awareness, for over 300 clothing brands.
It also analysed the number of monthly searches for each brand and calculating an owned social score which combines the number of followers and engagement rate across major social platforms for each brand.
Zara came out on top for brand awareness, with over 91 million social media followers and a sizeable 1,830,000 brand searches per month.
This is reflected in Zara’s owner Inditex reporting a 17% rise in gross profit for FY22, driven by strong performances in all key geographical areas, including the UK, against fierce competition from other clothing brands.
GlobalData finds that Zara’s ability to get the right trend at the right moment at an affordable price boosts the brand’s appeal among young demographics. However, realistic model images and a bolder social media presence could boost Zara’s online channel further.
