American supercentre and grocery store chain Meijer is set to introduce a streamlined shopping checkout programme, Shop & Scan, across all stores this year.
To use the Shop & Scan shopping checkout programme, customers need to download the Maijer app onto their mobile device.
Customers can use Shop & Scan, which is integrated with the company’s mPerks programme, to scan barcodes on products using their mobile phones during shopping.
After completing shopping, customers need to scan their phone at a self-checkout machine to pay and bag the groceries.
Meijer chief information officer Terry Ledbetter said: “Shop & Scan will make the Meijer experience dramatically faster and more convenient for our customers.
“This technology joins our curbside pickup and home delivery programs to provide yet another option for Meijer customers to personalize their shopping experience.”
