Multinational supermarket chain Aldi has revealed the list of locations across the UK where it wants to open new stores as part of its expansion plans.
The retailer did not provide specific details about the locations but added cities like Bath and Birmingham, as well as smaller towns such as Penzance and Maidenhead, to the list.
Aldi is looking for sites near main roads with good visibility and access, which can accommodate 20,000ft² stores with around 100 parking spaces.
It plans to reach a target of 16 new stores in the country before the end of the year.
In addition to expanding its store footprint, the discount supermarket chain is investing in new and expanded distribution centres.
These include distribution centres in Bedford and Leicestershire, UK.

Aldi UK and Ireland CEO Giles Hurley said: “The cost-of-living crisis is worsening, and it’s being felt by millions of households across the UK.
“It’s in times like these when our customers rely on us the most, which is why we’re focusing on continuing to deliver our longstanding price promise by offering the lowest possible prices in Britain, every single day.
“Independent research shows our discount is as compelling as ever and that’s why more and more people are switching to Aldi.
“We will do whatever it takes to maintain our discount to the traditional full price supermarkets and keep grocery prices as low as possible for the millions of customers that shop with Aldi.”
In July this year, Aldi UK announced it would increase the hourly pay of its UK colleagues by £0.40 ($0.48) from last month.
