Spar Russia has signed a licensing agreement with a new Spar Partner, which will see the retailer expand into the southern federal district of Astrakhan.
The first Astrakhan-based Spar supermarket was launched at the end of last year and the company is planning to open 30 new stores in the region by the end of next year.
SPAR Russia managing director Sergey Loktev said: “Our new SPAR Partner in Astrakhan is determined to expand the SPAR network.
“We have invested in the training of new specialists and the modernisation of logistics and trade processes. In the coming months, we expect the opening of several new supermarkets in Astrakhan.”
With a sales area of 290m² and more than 3,500 stockkeeping units (SKUs), the new store also features a café, where customers can have breakfast, lunch or dinner.
SPAR Russia opened its first store in the country after obtaining the licence to operate the brand by SPAR International.
