China’s retail industry registered a 6.4% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.59% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.09% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.71% over the last three-month average share.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 24.09% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during July 2022 over June 2022.
Amazon posted 60 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 24.05% over the previous month, followed by JD with 29 jobs and a 3.57% growth. eBay with 8 IT jobs and Inter IKEA Holding with 4 jobs, recorded a 50% decline and a 50% decrease, respectively, while Alibaba Group Holding recorded a decline of 50% with 3 job postings during July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.86%, down by 18.18% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with an 18.92% share, registered an increase of 50% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 16.22% share, down 57.14% over June 2022.
