Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 59.58% in June 2022, a 51.77% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.91% in June 2022, marking a 47.03% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 14.61% in June 2022, a 28.57% drop from May 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 60.3% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during June 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 192 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a decline of 73.84% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 71 jobs and a 6.58% drop. NIKE with 32 IT jobs and Target with 30 jobs, recorded a 146.15% rise and a 14.29% drop, respectively, while Wesfarmers recorded a 14.29% increase with 24 job postings during June 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 25% share in June 2022, a 3.14% decrease over May 2022. India featured next with a 22.08% share, down 79.46% over the previous month. China recorded a 20.45% share, a growth of 0.8% compared with May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.82%, down by 42.24% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.62% share, registered a decline of 18.41% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.39% share, down 78.88% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.16%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
