February 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.59% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 10.56% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 1.14% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 82.95% in February 2022, a 24.65% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 6.2% in February 2022, marking a 20% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 5.43% in February 2022, a 16.67% rise from January 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 19.87% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during February 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 64 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a decline of 31.91% over the previous month, followed by Magazine Luiza with 38 jobs and an 18.75% growth. Lojas Americanas with 17 IT jobs and SMU with 4 jobs, recorded a 22.73% drop and a 50% drop, respectively, while Carrefour recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 77.52% share in February 2022, an 18.03% decrease over January 2022. Chile featured next with a 6.2% share, down 42.86% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 6.2% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.54%, down by 18.75% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.83% share, registered a decline of 37.84% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.63% share, down 11.76% over January 2022.
