October 2021 has seen an increase of 5.18% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 13.04% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 2.13% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 62.96% in October 2021, a 13.56% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 19.75% in October 2021, marking a 15.79% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 13.58% in October 2021, a 57.14% rise from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 13.95% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s retail industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 31 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 22.5% over the previous month, followed by Inter IKEA Holding with 21 jobs and a 23.53% growth. Shoprite Holdings with 13 IT jobs and The Foschini Group with 6 jobs, recorded a 31.58% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Mr. Price Group recorded a 25% decline with 3 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s retail industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 43.21% share in October 2021, a 14.63% decrease over September 2021. Niger featured next with a 24.69% share, up 42.86% over the previous month. Israel recorded an 18.52% share, a growth of 7.14% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.84%, up by 5.36% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.75% share, registered a decline of 11.11% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.41% share, down 70% over September 2021.
