Convenience retailer 7-Eleven has launched its Mobile Checkout service in Canada in an effort to provide a more convenient shopping experience for customers.
Currently available in all 7-Eleven stores, the technology allows customers to scan and pay for their items and leave the store without having to stop at the checkout counter.
With the launch of the service, 7-Eleven Canada has become the first retailer in the country to introduce this technology across its operations.
7-Eleven Canada vice-president and general manager Norman Hower said: “Our customers told us that they want more time to focus on the important things in their lives.
“We took that insight and developed 7-Eleven’s proprietary technology to create a full contactless shopping experience. We know this will help our customers save time and empower them to make the most of their day.
“We’re reinventing convenience with the 7-Eleven Mobile Checkout and this is yet another example of how we’re developing digital innovation to actively exceed our customers’ needs.”

The launch in Canada comes after 7-Eleven successfully introduced the Mobile Checkout service in the US earlier this year.
Launched in 2018, Mobile Checkout is currently used by more than one million 7-Eleven customers across 3,000 participating US stores.
To celebrate the launch, 7-Eleven Canada is offering ten times the rewards points to customers making purchases through Mobile Checkout.
In July, 7‑Eleven rolled out the Mobile Checkout service to more than 2,500 additional stores in the US.
The company aims to make the solution available to all 7‑Eleven stores in the country by the end of next year.
