India retail industry registered a 4.7% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 1.73% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 30.96% share in June 2021, recording decrease of 2.14% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.98% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India retail industry in June 2021.

Top five retail companies in India IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 10.41% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India retail industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
Amazon posted 340 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 13.04% over the previous month, followed by L Brands with 10 jobs and an 11.11% growth. NIKE with 7 IT jobs and Target with 7 jobs, recorded a 40% growth and a 12.5% decline, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a flat growth with 6 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.51%, down by 36.13% from May 2021. Entry Level positions with a 32.14% share, a growth of 75% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 17.35% share, down 1.45% over May 2021.
