The value marked a decrease of 37.8% over the previous month and a drop of 22.6% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $5.63bn.
Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $2.36bn. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $1.58bn.
In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for retail industry M&A deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.

The combined value of the top five retail M&A deals stood at $3.17bn, against the overall value of $4.36bn recorded for the month.

1) Moncler‘s $1.39bn acquisition of Stone Island
2) The $556m asset transaction with 9830 Macarthur, Reliance Equities Group and ZN Direct by Mohawk Group Holdings and Truweo
3) Convergenta Invest und Beteiligungs’ $512.76m acquisition of Ceconomy
4) The $360m acquisition of Makro Supermayorista by Inretail Peru
5) The Hut Group’s acquisition of DermStore for $350m.
