E-commerce retailer Amazon has announced plans to develop 11 new sites across the Phoenix metro area in the US state of Arizona.
The sites include seven delivery stations and two more facilities in Avondale, Chandler, Goodyear, Mesa, Phoenix and Tempe. These will support customer fulfilment operations in the areas.
It also includes delivery stations to support the last mile of Amazon’s order fulfilment process.
The facilities, scheduled to open later this year, could generate more than 3,000 full and part-time jobs.
Employees at these sites will receive a minimum wage of $15 per hour and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.
Arizona Commerce Authority president & CEO Sandra Watson said: “Efficient delivery services are more critical now than ever, and this significant Amazon expansion will not only greatly enhance last-mile fulfilment in greater Phoenix but will also create thousands of jobs for our residents.
