Retail electronic cards spending in New Zealand remained flat in June 2014, according to Statistics New Zealand.
Retail spending, adjusted for seasonal effects, was unchanged this month, following a 1.2% increase in May 2014.
Business indicators manager Neil Kelly said, "Spending rose in three retail industries and fell in three during June.
"Fuel and hospitality had the largest rises, while durables had the largest fall," he added.
Fuel and hospitality had the largest rises of the retail industries. Spending on fuel was up 1.6% ($12m), while hospitality spending increased 0.5% ($3.7m).
In contrast, durables were by 0.7% to $7.8m.

By GlobalDataCore retail spending (which excludes the vehicle-related industries) fell 0.4% in June 2014.
Including the two non-retail industries (services and non-retail), the total value of electronic card spending rose 0.5%.
The agency noted that trends for the total, retail, and core retail series have all generally been rising since these series began in October 2002.
In unadjusted terms, 112 million transactions were made across all industries in June, with an average value of $51. The total amount spent across all transactions was $5.7bn.
