Online grocery e-commerce platform Mercato has partnered with on-demand delivery platform DoorDash for its grocery delivery orders fulfilment.
As part of the deal, DoorDash will serve as Mercato’s preferred partner and will cover the majority of its grocery delivery orders.
Customers can shop for from range of products, including meat and fish to produce bakery items, prepared foods and pantry staples from local specialty markets and independent grocers, which will be delivered on the same day.
DoorDash Drive vice president Casey North said: “Our partnership with Mercato deepens our focus and commitment to better serving local communities, and also our customers and merchant partners beyond restaurant delivery.
“We’re excited to pair our best-in-class fulfilment operations and commitment to quality with Mercato’s extensive network of independent grocers to bring a new, convenient way for their customers to enjoy their favourite grocery items.”
Mercato platform currently operates around 750 independent grocers in 22 US states onboard. It plans to expand its business further this year.

In April this year, DoorDash partnered with Walmart to expand the retailer’s Online Grocery Delivery programme in Atlanta, US.
