Russian food retailer Magnit will equip its stores with NCR SelfServ Self-Checkout solution.
This comes after NCR, along with its partners New Vision and Shtrikh, has won a five-way competitive bid for the self-checkout project.
Shtrikh helped NCR to embed the fiscal receipts in its self-checkout solutions, while New Vision supported the integration with the existing Magnit infrastructure.
Under phase I of NCR- Magnit partnership, Magnit will install NCR’s self-checkout solutions in 40 hypermarkets, a move that will help the retailer to improve service in stores and convenience of its customers.
During the testing phase, NCR demonstrated how to deploy self-checkout successfully in two very different Magnit supermarkets: one in Krasnodar, a regional capital with more than 800.000 citizens, and one in Tuapse, holiday resort on the Black Sea with a population of less than 100,000 inhabitants.
NCR Russia Retail Area Industry Leader Andriy Pinkevych said: “Self-checkout is still a very new concept in Russia.
