Walgreens has enabled its Balance Rewards members to seamlessly apply their loyalty account at checkout through Android Pay, improving the convenience of earning and redeeming points, as well as expanding its portfolio of unified mobile payments solutions.
This integration enables more than 85 million active Balance Rewards members who use Android devices to have an easy, secure and private way to earn and use loyalty points in-store.

It also removes the need to separately scan or enter Balance Rewards card.
Walgreens senior vice-president and chief information officer Abhi Dhar said: “We’re continually looking at ways to enhance the customer experience through innovative and forward-thinking technologies."
Members can add their Balance Rewards card information to the Android Pay app, which can be downloaded on Google Play.
Before making payment, members need to simply hold their Android device near the PIN pad and the appropriate rewards information is applied. In order to checkout, members have to then hold their device again near the PIN pad for payment.
