French retail group Casino has entered a strategic partnership with Qarnot computing to implement its asset monetisation strategy.
As part of the agreement, Qarnot will install and operate new-generation data centres across the supermarket’s warehouses and storerooms.
Casino noted that the partnership will generate additional revenue for the group by renting available space and supplying necessary power to run the data centres through its GreenYellow subsidiary.
The retailer also plans to create savings in energy costs by reusing the heat from the servers to heat its stores and warehouses housing the data centres.
A company jointly owned by Casino Group and Qarnot computing, ScaleMax will operate the data centres.
Qarnot CEO Paul Benoit said: “ScaleMax provides our clients with France-wide access to high-performance computing capacity that is sustainable and secure, and can be rapidly deployed on a very large scale.
