Walmart has inaugurated a new distribution centre spanning 1,000,000ft2 in Jacksonville, Florida, US.

Situated at 1511 Zoo Parkway, the centre is tasked with handling and distributing products to a network of 18 Sam’s Club outlets throughout Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, in addition to seven clubs located in Puerto Rico.

This hub, located ten minutes from the Port of Jacksonville, also stores and organises imported merchandise before it is dispatched to four other distribution centres within the Southeast region.

New facility general manager Frank Herrera said: “We’re proud to create a new slate of jobs in our community. Each position brings a pathway for opportunity at Walmart and Sam’s Club. Today’s ribbon cutting is a celebration of our commitment to our associates, our community and our future.”

Walmart offers comprehensive rewards and benefits to full-time employees, which include health insurance covering medical, vision, and dental care, contributions matching 401(k) plans, paid leave, and associate stock purchase scheme.

Associates also have access to free college degrees and skill certifications through the retailer’s Live Better U initiative.
