Australian supermarket chain Woolworths has expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud through a five-year strategic partnership.
The strategic move will elevate the use of data and insights within the company.
The collaboration builds upon an established foundation, aiming to enhance Woolworths’ capabilities in data, insights and automation.
Woolworths Group chief information officer and group enablement managing director John Hunt stated: “Google Cloud is widely acknowledged for their strategic contributions across all our business areas. Their deep collaboration, initially in setting up our Woolworths Data Platform, has been instrumental in accelerating data visualisation and analytics to transform our workflows and unlock the full potential of our data.
“We appreciate the support and collaboration of all our technology partners in keeping our operations running smoothly, whilst simultaneously progressing our technology transformation and innovation agenda, to improve and enable processes and customer and team experiences. Congratulations again to Google Cloud on being awarded Technology Partner of the Year and we thank them for the continued support and partnership.”
Woolworths has been collaborating with Google Cloud since 2017.
The recent extension of this partnership comes after Google Cloud was honoured as Partner of the Year at the Woolworths Group Technology and Business Enablement Awards.
Google Cloud Australia and New Zealand vice-president Paul Migliorini stated: “Our goal remains to help Woolworths further leverage Google Cloud’s data analytics and advanced technology capabilities to drive innovation across their business.”
In September 2024, Puma joined forces with Google Cloud to enhance its digital shopping experience for customers worldwide through the use of generative AI technology.
In a separate development, RELEX Solutions is set to collaborate with Woolworths to deploy its Replenishment system across the retailer’s distribution centres and 1,400 outlets throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Woolworths Group director of group replenishment Justin Henderson stated: “We identified an opportunity to modernise our existing replenishment platform to support maximising product availability for customers, optimising cost and forging stronger supplier collaboration.
“By partnering with RELEX, we expect to see improved visibility across the group which will ensure that our team and partners can focus their time building greater consistency with their supply and demand plans across our businesses. This will ultimately help improve product availability for customers in store and online.”
