Walmart has opened a $135m distribution centre in Mobile, Alabama, US, to bolster its supply chain network.

The distribution centre is expected to improve regional economic growth and local career opportunities with a path for advancement.

Their commitment cannot be better proven than by the opening of this new Distribution Center, which, when fully operational, will provide approximately 750 quality jobs in the Mobile area.

The new storage and cross-dock facility was announced in March, and it is expected to provide multiple regional distribution centres that support around 700 Walmart stores in Alabama, Mississippi, and beyond.

The Mobile distribution centre marks Walmart’s sixth import distribution centre in the US and will cover 2.6 million square feet of space.

Once the distribution centre is fully operational, it will employ over 750 full-time associates with wages presently averaging $16.50 per hour.
