SPAR’s licensed organisation in Northern Ireland, the Henderson Group, has unveiled a new EUROSPAR supermarket on Doury Road, Ballymena.  

A 43-week building project has upgraded an old SPAR outlet. The opening marks the completion of Henderson Retail’s final project for 2024, having invested £30m in community retail initiatives throughout the year.

The investment underscores Henderson’s dedication to revitalising community retail spaces across Northern Ireland.  

Henderson Group retail director Mark McCammond stated: “EUROSPAR Supermarket Doury Road is the perfect example of how our EUROSPAR brand enhances local retailing services and facilities for those within the community, providing everything they need under one roof at value prices.” 

“EUROSPAR offers Tesco Price Match on over one thousand products in-store, and the footprint of Doury Road has now nearly doubled to provide an even greater range of locally sourced fresh produce, alongside our homegrown and handmade own brands.” 

The supermarket has expanded its workforce to 37 employees, with 16 new staff joining the existing 21 employees.

Patrons of EUROSPAR Doury Road will find a bakery section, an assortment of cheeses, a food-to-go deli and an in-store butchery.

The store also houses locally sourced products and regional specialities, such as Barr’s Deli’s selection of fresh meats and RJ Kerr’s bakery offerings. 

EUROSPAR has reinstated crucial community services such as the Post Office, and introduced a Maxol six-pump forecourt and 56 spaces parking spaces. 

Store manager David McFall stated: “We have had a soft opening since early November […] revealing the new services to our local shoppers.”

EUROSPAR Doury Road is set to continue community engagement through support and sponsorship of local entities.
